I have an unusual Canadian 10 cent piece that has an incomplete date which reads 194 ... I have been unable to find any information on this error and would appreciate any assistance or input about this coin and error if possible.
Thank you everyone for your welcomes and feed back. I am, by trade, a Machinist/Engineer and have a strong working knowledge of metals and metallurgy. When I first came across this coin I made a very thorough inspection of the date to find some clue as to why it was incomplete. I had not considered a grease filled dye, but that would make perfect sense with the size and complexity of metal working in the dyes to achieve such fine details.
