I'm new here and this is my first post. I coin rolled hunted pennies from 2012-2015 at a time I couldn't do much, if any, metal detecting. I decided to CRH pennies since they are, for the most part, the worst condition coins to come out of the ground when metal detecting. Silvers can usually be cleaned and made to appear in good shape...a tall task for pennies. Anyways, I had three local banks that would save me all their CWR's brought in. I would purchase them from the banks. All three were gracious enough to give me the thick, clear plastic bags to put $25 in pennies in and return them when I was finished. They would send these on, I guess, to the reserve after pickup. I had (still have, if anyone would like a blank copy) an Excel spreadsheet that would keep up with totals as I posted them. These are my totals from those four years. Feel free to ask questions if you like.

Total rolls searched: 25,047
Total pennies searched: 1,252,350
Face value of searched pennies: $12,523.50
'S' Memorial pennies found (1968-1974) : 2,025
Total wheat pennies found: 2,653
1909 - 1919 wheat pennies: 41
1920 - 1929 wheat pennies: 50
1930 - 1939 wheat pennies: 96
1940 - 1949 wheat pennies: 931
1950 - 1959 wheat pennies: 1,535
Indian Head pennies: 8
1998 Wide AM : 60
1999 Wide AM : 5
2000 Wide AM : 111

When I checked my spreadsheet from years ago, I thought I would post. At the least, it will be interesting to see how things have changed since I stopped four years ago. I have the above totals in much greater detail (mint marks, foreign coins, etc) if anyone would like to ask.

I will post pictures of all five. I am at school now and have cross country practice after school but I will be sure to post later this evening. I have all the better finds, including all the Wide AM's in flaps with the date that they were found. Give me until about 8 pm central time or so and I will post the pics.

One of our members here is about 13% through a project to search 1 million 1 cent coins:

He has found 100s of canadian, and a number of Roosevelt dimes. His % of wheats is so far higher than yours.

By any chance did you keep track of the non-US coins that you came across?

My original post was in response to the member who was trying to get to a million pennies. JBuck made this it's own thread as that was probably considered as a hijacked thread which was unintentional on my part.

I did keep track of my foreign coins...I will post those later. I know off hand that I did not find hundreds of Canadian pennies. I'm in Alabama so not as many down here, though I do recall a couple of King George pennies. I did find quite a few Euro pennies and dimes also. The dimes were usually quite dirty and grimy and looked like pennies. Also, with the CWR's it was common for the rolls to be short of 50 pennies. I believe I remember one that actually had only 45.

For the record, it was not really a problem, but I did not want your results to get lost in there. Plus, it looks like you will have a lot more to contribute here.

Sorry I did not get pics posted last night. I didn't forget, just have a lot going on with cross country at the present time. Both teams, boys and girls, are running for a state championship on Saturday. Between practices and getting all logistics ironed out, there's a lot going on. I will get the pics up as soon as possible!
