I always liked this coin. It has collar clash, thousands of contact marks on the area that wasn't struck and even shows the copper core on the incomplete reverse edge.

It's an interesting error coin for study.

That is a pretty sweet error that you have there. I really like the ridges on the obv face at about five o'clock.

That is the collar clash. How does this get struck onto the coins?

The mis-alignment of a strike hit the collar and altered that outside edge of the die. So when a normal strike happens it leave an affected area on the rim:

Thanks for the images, Coop! Collar clash is confused so often as a "double struck" coin because it shows reeding on the edge and the rim. This coin has lots of information about the way the coin was struck, if you know what to look for.

Error-ref.com is such a great resource for the error collector. I've learned so much from just reading random articles there.
