Hello everyone:

I recently got my hands on a 1991 proof set. I have been looking around for a 1991 quarter for some time now.But now I can't decide whether to keep the set as is or break it up for the quarter.
any suggestions?

Hi, North of 49, Welcome to the forum.

I wouldn't touch the proof set, if it was me.

I would buy the 1991 quarter on a on-line store, I think you can pick one up for $10.00 or so.

Thank you for your suggestions, and the welcome, I did not mention that the dollar coin in this set is discoloured (toned?).Would this fact change your opinion?

Also does anyone have any idea what causes this and does it mean that the set is damaged ?

A little off topic but I have another set that is discoloured but in this case the coins have all turned a pleasing gold colour, is this related?
