On the die the center of the "O" would be sticking above the surface and it broke off causing the die chip.Dies are opposite of the coin,everything raised on the coin is sunk in on the dies.

@beedles, just to add a little more color to @john1's excellent explanation, when the part of the die that chips off is on a feature that is not connected to any other feature (for example, the middle of a letter O, but not the middle of a letter C), then we say that the resulting extra metal on the coins struck from this die to be from a "broken post". If this had been on a letter C, then we would have called it a die chip.

TY all for the info. Are these of value? or just a few extra bucks? Yeah I was going off the chip "c" one that was posted here a few weeks ago. Now I have something new to look for New for me. Having trouble looking up info on broken post

Some people might collect these, but even if so, I doubt it would be much of a premium, I'm really not sure. Throw it in a box of "interesting" finds, or spend it. Add it to 44 more nickels and you can get a medium coffee at Starbucks.
