All of the doubled areas are to the outside of the design image pushing towards the rim. It doesn't add any value to the coin because it happens on a huge number of strikes. Starting in 1991,if the mint mark is doubled as well as the rest of the obverse it is either Machine Doubling or a true DDO. DDD is basically a worn die. Each thing is of its own. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 11/12/2019 10:21 pm Stopped in 1989. In 1990, the mintmark is part of the design. Thus the missing 1990 no 'S' cents happened. The mintmark was not on the design, and no one probably thought to check for it that year. (I need to look to see what die state the no 'S' proofs are in. To see if it did a full run, or at what point the die was noticed and then pulled. (the die state. that would give me an idea of how many there are of these. but there could have been more than one die that had this issue also?) Report this Post to the Staff
