So I went to the store today and when I got my change back I noticed I got one of the D-Day toonies to add to my collection, upon further inspection I looked at it through my microscope and noticed on the queen there is a few what looks to be die cracks/extra metal lines and what looks to be an eye on the obverse side under the queens necklace along with some die cracks.

not only this but on the reverse I noticed one of the soldiers on the right have what looks to be a big Cud under his nose.

In this pic I did a close up of the area that looks like an eye before showing the full queen so that it does not get mistaken as a gouge or PMD, in the full picture of the queen it may look like a gouge but that is only due to my lighting.

Just a quick explanation as to why I think it looks like it could be an Eye, in the photo below I put the 2 images side by side, on the left side is the Reverse with the middle soldier, the right image is of the Obverse under the queens necklace it looks like an Eye, this eye looks to be an identical shape to the soldiers right eye on the Reverse.

What I did was cut out the shape, slightly rotated and shrunk it to the appropriate size.

The only thing I have not done yet is take measurements to see if they match as I do not know how I could measure something that small but I do know that this mark in question is relatively the same size as the soldiers eye.

Looks to me like it has taken a hit from something. There is no way during the striking of the coin that an "eye" can suddenly appear.
Also that cannot be a Cud on the soldiers nose, a Cud has to involve the rim. It may be a die chip.

JimmyD, thanks for the reply.

Correction to my original reply, upon further inspection it does actually go into the coin, but due to the shapes and lighting made it look as if it was extruding from it, but looking at it further under better lighting with my scope it looks a lot more like a possible strike through, the mark looks far to clean and shapes look too defined to be a random hit that happened after the mint.

again I could be wrong and I am still learning. so I will post some better pictures later today.
