1964-D Kennedy Half, DDO?

It is a DDO. But a lot of these were master die issues. (Probably the reason the images are not there) But check Wexler's site to see if it is one of these master die/master hub issues:

master die/master hub What does that mean?
The dies are created through a chain of proceedures:

Note the chain at the top:
Master hub. This is a positive hub. (that means the devices look like a coin)
Master die. This is a negative die. (that means the devices don't look like a coin mirror image opposites, incuse and raised devices are opposite the coins.) Only two of these are created. (usually)
Working hub. These are also positives like a coin, but used to create working dies.
Working die. These are also negatives and strike the positve coins we use.
[red]So what happens when these dies are not exactly correct?
1. All coins from a miss hubbed die, will all show the same doubling. (A doubled die is created)
2. Doubling on a hub. All dies created with this hub will have many dies created exactly alike the same hub doubling.
3. Doubling on the master die. If this happens on a master die, because two are made, that means that 1/2 of all the coins that year will have dies striking the exact same doubling.
4. Doubled master hub: Means that all dies will have the same doubling as all down the chain the dies will all look the same.

Of course you could have a doubled die on a doubled master die as well, that would be a variety. (IE: 1972 die #009)
Also they would have started the process of using, then discovered the issue and then would have re-created a whole new chain, or fixed the issue with an new master die and scrapped all the faulted dies/hubs/master dies/master hubs. So this years dies are savers for now until they figure out which ones are real doubled dies, (not master hub/master die issues) Wexler lists some that he has figured out.

Remember, in order to be from that die. Each area must be an exact match of the image for that area of that die number. (discounting coin contact and die wear of course)

I just noticed variety vista has pics of ddo-015 but there are some significant differences between their version & wexlers...like the T in liberty has a seriff on the right side in wexlers but not on vv. And some other differences bc I remember now when I was looking it up before I posted it on the forum, I was thinking ddo-015 was the closest but not an exact match. Then I looked at wexlers version and it seemed more like what I remember looking at earlier. I guess we'll see when I get home. I may have a few extra beers since I found my first real Kennedy DDO lol
