I have found this very rare looking modern nickel. I dont know gow to describe the image striked on this coin but it looks like a circular saw blade. Do you think this is an error since the image was on both sides of the coin?
I've been trying to do some research but could not find anything. Can you identify also what caused this unlikely image strucked on this particular nickel.

@Cvsantana28, first welcome to CCF. Second, that 1983-D nickel definitely looks damaged to me. From the pattern on the front and the back, something round and hollow (such as a metal pipe) was placed firmly against both sides and then the nickel rotated slightly. The pattern does look like a saw blade though and that is interesting.

Thank you Spence for welcoming me to the community.

Yeah I am really amazed with the saw blade figure and was really wondering what caused it and if it was done intentionally or was it caused by production error. I'm still digging and looking for answers. Hoping to get some clarity soon. Thanks again.

I would encourage you to come back in a couple hours to read others' opinions, but my thought is that this is absolutely not a mint error. Whether the damage is intentional or accidental is the real question.

Definitely damaged, nothing in the minting process could do that.
