Found A Rare Modern Nickel, Could It Be Considered An Error?

Cvsantana28 New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 11/19/2019 04:41 am I have found this very rare looking modern nickel. I dont know gow to describe the image striked on this coin but it looks like a circular saw blade. Do you think this is an error since the image was on both sides of the coin? I've been trying to do some research but could not find anything. Can you identify also what caused this unlikely image strucked on this particular nickel. Report this Post to the Staff

Spence Moderator United States 34435 Posts	Posted 11/19/2019 04:45 am @Cvsantana28, first welcome to CCF. Second, that 1983-D nickel definitely looks damaged to me. From the pattern on the front and the back, something round and hollow (such as a metal pipe) was placed firmly against both sides and then the nickel rotated slightly. The pattern does look like a saw blade though and that is interesting. Yeah I am really amazed with the saw blade figure and was really wondering what caused it and if it was done intentionally or was it caused by production error. I would encourage you to come back in a couple hours to read others' opinions, but my thought is that this is absolutely not a mint error. Whether the damage is intentional or accidental is the real question.
