As a learning experience, I placed a bid on someone's collection of Liberty Head nickels. I had not ever participated in an auction at ebay, only "Buy it Now" purchases. The pictures looked clear, so I placed a small bid. And a day later someone topped me. I decided to simply put in my limit and if I didn't get it, no harm. Well, someone tried to snipe me right at the end, but I still got it for about half of what my upper limit was.

All in all, it was fun. There is definitely a rush in getting that "win." The coins will give me something new to experience as well. I don't have any Liberty head nickels at all. Even if they are in horrible shape, it was a good experience.

Congrats!

I generally test bid to see what gives me the lead (if I even can) and then I put in my max bid and let it play out with automatic bidding. It's still fun to watch as it gets down to the wire.

When you get them, let us know if you think the coins were worth what you paid.
Rest in Peace

Careful here, it is an addiction! I have bookmarks set for my various ebay searches, and click through them regularly looking for new stuff like a hobby. Yes those last few seconds when everything goes berserk are quite exciting, feels like a contest of wills to bag your game and "win", when in fact you really aren't "winning" so much as volunteering to pay more than any other human on Earth which might be more of a "loss" Anyway happy hunting!
