Hi, I'm just getting into collecting and am really interested in errors. I ran into these today and am not sure what I'm seeing.

The dime looks like doubled dieish but I don't see it anywhere else.

The quarter looks like a gouge but a section of it is actually raised and resembles a tiny cudish thing. Its so tiny it literally had to ha been done with a needle..I just don't know.

Hi Rupe11,

On the dime I believe what you're seeing is slight Machine Doubling, not a doubled die.

Not sure about the quarter. It looks like it's a die chip, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for your reply! I truly appreciate it. I'll look into Machine Doubling and die chips.

@rupe11, that area on the quarter looks more like damage to me than a die chip, but I'm not positive.

Oh, you know what, I bet Spence is totally right that it's damage. Has the look like the reeded edge of another coin drove into the surface. Didn't recognize it until Spence said damage.

On the die you are seeing very heavy die flow. So the die is on the later die states when your coin was struck.
