Hard to tell by the images if hairlined, but looks too "shiny" in the profile/right obverse fields & devices to not cause some hesitation. Report this Post to the Staff

There is just something that grabs you with this variety, does it not? I don't have a 42/1, but for the right price I would love to have one in my collection. But I agree with others, $500 doesn't feel right on this particular coin. Be careful as lots of counterfeits exist. If you have a dealer you can trust 100%, then don't bother with a slabbed one (I'm not big on stabs in general). When the right coin comes along for the right price, you'll know it. I would get this one but at $500, I can get a few more things I want. If I can find one for around $300 I'll get it. $500 puts it into the price that I would rather get it slabbed. I am fairly active looking through rolls of cents searching for errors. I realise the odds of a 55 double date turning up in the wild are close to nil, but I keep searching and hoping.
