That's strong Machine Doubling! I have a uncirculated Buffalo nickel that has MD on all of the devices on the obverse. I still remember the first time I looked at it about 30 years ago. I was SURE it was a doubled die.

Just Machine Doubling and coin damage. Even the doubled dies that year had Machine Doubling on them.

Forget looking at the date on these. Look for the Liberty and the motto areas first. That will keep you heart more calm. The doubling these devices are huge. (probably less than 100 examples of this obverse die:

The problem is, you can find more of MD in circulation than for a doubled die being in circulation. MD is way to common to be a reason to save them.

@coop, I agree that MD coins won't bring a premium. I guess what I'm thinking is that this is very little downside to saving one or two nice examples in one's collection.
