Im going to assume these are some sort of die scratches but could anyone tell me what they really are?

Edit* they dont go all the way around his head, I thought they did but upon further investigation these marks are only on his forehead, nose, mouth, chin/neck and chest. Theres something funky going on with his lips aswell, I will post pics in a few minutes.

Is it just DDD?

Very likely Die Deterioration. Seems to fit with the flow lines in the field.

Thank you Oijogja I'm going to rule this as Die Deterioration aswell, I looked at a couple others around the same year and they showed the same thing slightly less visible.

Just die wear. The moving of the metal is most often noticed on the edges of the die near the rim. But also appears on the outlines of the devices. Often seen on the should of Lincoln cents on the side facing LIBERTY.
