Hi everyone,

Came across this 2001 50c whilst noodling. Looks like it could be some form of collar/rim damage. Just wanted to get others take on it.

Thank you in advance.

My first thoughts were PMD but upon closer inspection I'm not so sure.

Looking at the rim as pictured at 7 o'clock and then comparing it with the rim at 2 o'clock I'm now thinking an error coin.

Interested to see what others think?

... and to the forum!

This is very much similar to a type of damage that has been seen here quite a few times, all of which were determined to be PMD caused by 50c coin having been stuck or jammed in a vending machine.

I can't see any explainable way this damage would/could occur to a coin prior to it's leaving the Mint, so my opinion is PMD.
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved
