Any input anyone can provide on grade and price of this coin would be coveted. It's a mint error (struck 15% off center) so NGC won't comment on value. Thanks in advance !

Nice coin! Love the error! Looks like a G-06 but this coin (for whatever reason) is quite hard for me to grade. The reverse is nicer than the Obverse. Should fetch some good cash at the right auction with the right people. I would value it at $300-$400, although it's hard to value as well because of the rarity of an error like this. Just a disclaimer, I'm no expert I'm just going on experience.

That's the most generous 15 percent I've ever seen

Not close to 15%, or even 5%. Nice-looking G-06, with no premium for the centering. If NGC has stated this is 15% off center and you paid a premium for it, then you're in the red I'm guessing. Please show us the slab.

The off center strike won't be worth much (if any) premium to an early copper specialist, but may be attractive to an error collector. Still not going to add much to the value.

The more important question is, what is the variety?

G6 probably in a straight grade holder even though there are some issues. weak obverse strike. looks more like 10% off but I don't work for NGC. I don't see a premium for that

I would concur with a grade of G06.

Nice original G-6. No premium for the off set.

Sorry. The 15% was a typo. It's 5% off center.

I disagree this is 5% O/C, just my opinion. More a minus than a plus for this coin.

Not sure what to say. That is what it is catalogued as with the John Mervis Collection. Why do you feel it's a minus rather than a plus? Thanks for your help.

This is my example of the same coin, 1800 S-202. It shows some off-center striking as well,. However, less than the OP coin.

If I remember correctly this characteristic is not unusual with S-202's.
