A new seller of individual coins showed up on ebay some weeks ago. I just look at Lincolns but they were all high grade harshly cleaned and listed as BU++. Checked and he's got 52,000 feedbacks so obviously been around a long time though.

Been waiting for one of these coins with some interest to come up cheap. So I saw a DDR on a 1934 and bought it for $1.61 plus shipping (obviously people can see it's harshly cleaned and not GEM BU red as in the item's title).

Anyway, here is what they look like, and I strongly advise everyone to NOT buy from north-east-auction as the coins are horrible and I just did this to see one in hand.

It looks like an acid dip, but the coin weighs 3.14g so not sure exactly what they are doing to the coins. But would have been a very nice coin if not destroyed.

Here is the original listing I bought:

Nice doubled die! Too bad about that cleaning or dip or whatever they did to poor Lincoln. Too bad to see perfectly nice varieties get downgraded by the harsh cleaning and damage some of these coins are subjected to.

It looks like some type of media blast has been used on the coin.

Seller has 81 negatives for basically the same thing.
That would have been enough to deter me from buying from him.

Thanks TB for the heads up and putting your $ out there for our benefit.

Wow, I just realized that this is the same seller who bought an AU Barber quarter from me in October, then flipped it a month later as a proof Barber (with bad photos). I'll post the links as a new topic later today.
