Here's hoping... I just hope they aren't minors so they don't get a slap on the wrist and a few years in juvie.

This just makes me want to throw up. Collections are for fun, not spending! I got mine from my grandma, gave it a new home in a Whitman classic folder, got more from my great aunt, and added my own common and key dates. If mine was stolen, I would be devastated. I know where your coming from though, because my older sister (carelessly, I might add) went in my room and spent some of my $2s and a $5 silver from '34!

Well, the warm and fuzzy side to this story is that I got married on Saturday and my family really stepped up for me. They noticed a tiny shop selling coins in town (Gambier, Ohio) and a few of them went in and bought me some vintage silver dollars to get the collection started again.

It was a hell of a wedding let me tell ya. :)

Sorry to hear about that. These thieves better hope I am not home when they decide to break in. I will introduce them to my .45 auto.

Sorry for your loss. Your story has convinced me to go ahead and bolt my safe to the floor. I thought I might get away with NOT, but thinking about coming home and seeing the safe gone was more than I could stand.

A.
Rest in Peace

photojojo - as someone who has had coins stolen from him, you have my full sympathy. And as one who has been married and divorced, you STILL have my full sympathy.

Okay, just kidding on the second one. But what a way to start a new life ...

I am really sorry to hear this. I live on the west side of Cincinnati also. I have my collection in a safe and the safe is bolted to the floor.

Sorry for your loss also.....
You might want to document everything that you can remember about the collection and write it down in detail. Some losses are deductable (see your accountant) and this might help a bit.
