Traded a cigarette to a guy on the street for three dimes and got the coin pictured below as one of them. nothing jumped out at me initially, but I referred back to my copy of striking it rich with pocket change, and noticed that it appeared to contain the proof reverse error mentioned in the book which refers to a deeper strike on the grooves in the torch as compared to the business strike. According to the book, in 1970 every business strike dime, regardless of the mint, has the potential of containing this error which is pretty cool.

I think I probably have it, but I'm throwing it out there to get the group's opinion. Thanks in advance guys.

These prices seem out of line to me. On the CPG book, they don't list circulated coin prices at all.

That's it, nice find!

Strike It Rich With Pocket Change's price guide tends to be really far off. The proof reverses of 1970 aren't hard to find in circulated grades, definitely not worth that much.

So 4 one of these in fine to extra fine what do y'all think? A dollar, $5, $10? Maybe a pack of Marlboro Lights... Still not bad for a dime if so.

So apparently they're not all that scarce, though undoubtedly less common then the design intended, it seems the meaningful value would be in early die state and/or uncirculated condition.

Thanks for the feedback guys!
