The design looks like it was stamped after the damage occurred to the planchette. Or am I way off base again?

I thought I saw this topic recently by Coop but couldn't find it.
Is this a good error find or just wishful thinking and it's spendable?

The reverse seemed normal
So what should I classify this as?

I'm in the good error camp on this one--that looks like it might be a lamination to me. Can you please also post an overall pic of the rev?

I'd say a lamination, and a great example.

With such strong details to the hair and weaker details to the beard, chin and neck, I have to disagree with Grapes and say IMO.. I think the lamination fell or was pealed off after the strike...either way it is a nice size de-lam error cent...where did you make this good find?

GC , there are worn but visible striations on the high points of the design. These would have disappeared during the strike had the planchet been laminated before the strike. Here is one that I have with photos before and after the lam came off. Note the lam striations on the high points of the design.

Here is one that split/laminated before the strike. Note that the lam striations show only where the design did not fully strike up.

The OP's coin is a nice lam after the strike.

It's from a bag of 5000 wheats I bought over ten years ago on ebay and put away, only just now getting to search them.

I would like to see the reverse of the 1960 Memorial cent to add these to my educational files.

That's maybe lamination issue, clearly missing a layer of metal but I'm not expert just start learning .
