Which do you like better and why, first coin or second coin:

First coin - upon request, a dealer sends me these photos today:
Choose-The-Nicer-Coin:-1923-S-Mercury-Dime
Choose-The-Nicer-Coin:-1923-S-Mercury-Dime

This second coin is also available elsewhere:

So I couldn't discern any luster on the first coin. The dealer advertised this one as MS60+. I sent a polite note, indicating that while this coin has a decent strike, I felt a coin at this grade should likely have full luster and that luster isn't really evident in these photos.

The dealer responded with the following:
"Please bear in mind that MS60 is at the low end of the Uncirculated spectrum. Virtually all coins MS62 and lower will have somewhat impaired luster. Larger coins such as Morgan dollars may exhibit minor luster impairment even in MS63 grade. Being an old timer I have always thought, strike first, clean surfaces and then luster. Luster is the easiest and most manipulated factor in grading."

This is helpful feedback. In any event, I'm turned off by the "broken nose" effect on the first coin, due to overlapped dies. I know this is common with many Mercury dime specimens, but I just don't want a coin with this feature. Otherwise, both coins seem to have similar strike, with the second coin certainly having more luster (at least from the photos). The asking price on the 2nd coin is $45 higher than the 1st coin. I see some hairlines on the obverse (2nd coin); are they minimal enough to avoid a "details - improperly cleaned" designation should I decide to submit down the road? Thanks.

If I had to choose, I'd say the first one based on these pics.

Again the photography isn't comparable. The second one looks harshly cleaned. First one it's hard to tell. If either is above $25, I would (me personally) stay away. Maybe that's just me.

#1 has a few obverse hits, reverse looks nice ,not FB .
#2 Has a bad scar from nose to chin , a lot of chatter on obverse ,bad hit on front of head piece and scratch on right field . Reverse looks ok , better bands but not full , too much glare on photo .
So I'll pick Door # 1 .

Not really sure. Trouble is not seeing those in real life. I mean those both could be in a plastic cover so accuracy is not really available. I am a FSB person and #2 appears to have more bands clear but then again, might be the photos. And with over 6 million minted, I'd look for a better one.
