The Fortuna reverse on this specimen certainly doesn't reflect Geta's true fate, as he had the ill fortune to be murdered by his brother Caracalla, supposedly despite the former's being cradled in their mother's arms at the time. Since Caracalla subsequently went so far as to procure a damnatio memoriae, legally coinage bearing Geta's name and likeness would've been included in those things to be effaced or destroyed. However, apparently this process was very incompletely carried out, for many issues of Geta are not at all scarce.

I rather liked the portrait on this example. I have it as RIC 75 (RSC 51, Sear 7245).

Like the patina, it's too bad he didn't live long enough to do any good. Thanks to his brother.

I agree--amazing remaining detail on the face and beard.

Nice coin!...I agree with the others a lovely portrait style...

But I have it at RIC 76 (RSC59).....COSII PP...With no wheel under the seat? Although the PP doesn't seem clear. Maybe there is a RIC 75 Variant with no wheel?

I'm sure one of the Roman experts will clarify...
