I found a Lencoln 1979D that was struck a second time with the Shield Penny design. Has anyone seen anything like this? many thanks.

Almost looks like a thick glue. And the glue came off in 2 spots

Great feedback all. I was stumped, I could not figure out how a penny can be re struck years after it was made. Still a great piece to add to my collection.

1. If it were from a strike by a die, then the devices would not be mirrored.
2. The devices would be raised, not incuse.
3. Also, the design for a coin 31 years earlier than shield reverse could not be on the struck coin.
Just couldn't happen.
