I actually picked up 3 slabbed coins and I haven't broken the slabs.  Funny part is that I paid less for the 3 coins than what it probably cost to get them slabbed. |

I got some money for Christmas and went to the LCS, I picked up my usual (walking liberties and bison nickels) and then Mike shows me a few coins he picked up. I mostly drooled over the full set of silver eagles but at $770 more than I can spend without my wife killing me. He also had a full album of Lincoln cents in mostly AU and all key dates including all the major DDO like the 1955, 1972 and 1990 (I learned there was a DDO in 1990) and 1922 no d slabbed. In that slabbed pile there was a 1945 LWC and the bison nickel. And when I picked up those 2, he knows I like flying eagles so I got that one really low cost. He also had an IHC but I passed my spending limit so I had to pass. I ended up getting 3 slabbed form the long term and considering I paid less than raw, I couldn't say no. Let's just say I'm a good customer :) I pay cash and never argue offer price. I'm also a regular so sometime I get lucky. |

hfjacinto > I'm going to try to say this without sounding like a no-it-all . Your 38-D Buffalo Nickel can't possibly be a proof or even struct at the Denver mint with proof dies . Also this Buffalo Nickel was either polished or plated with an unknown substance . |

I'm not the one grading it but the TPG doesn't agree with you on it being played or polished. I thought it was too shiny also but I checked it's grade and the LCS agreed with it, it looks like a proof Jefferson nickel I own. |

That coin doesn't look like it was struck from proof dies. It may be proof like though but your pics make that hard to tell. Compare your coin to a proof. It doesn't have any Die Deterioration like your coin does (circled in red). MS65 with that hit on the Bison's leg.   |

Ok , there's one way how to settle this . Lets call on FortCollins and hear what he has to say . He seems to be very educated in Buffalo ( Bison ) Nickels .  |

I think it's the picture. There is a small ding mark on the back and the Liberty is weak but there is no wear at all. The pictures make it look much worse than the actual coin.
