Well I finally bought my first gold coin. AU53 from my local coin store which he purchased for me from Scotsmans Coins in St. Louis, MO. I am going for a $2 1/2 dollar Gold Indian next.

congrats, Wornslick! Acquiring your first gold coin will be a special memory for a long time.

I'd love to see clearer pics.

I'm wondering if it recently came out of a bezel. The rims look like they may be flat spotted .... especially in the first set of pictures.

I see what your talking about westernsky but I believe it's the lighting. I don't think it was mount removed.
Better edge pics would confirm it.

Hard to get a sense of the surfaces. In the first set of photos it looks buffed and cleaned. In the others it looks more normal. Is this in a 2x2 and graded by seller? My guess is it would not straight grade but very, very hard to tell.

Yes it's in a 2X2. It was graded by Scotsmans. The first two pics were taken in different lighting than the last two which are more like the coin looks like. They was also taken using a 10X Loupe, trying to get some better pics.

I honestly cannot tell what this coin might grade or if it has problems.

You can always send it to ANACS for a quick TPG and if it straight grades close to what your dealer said it was then I guess everything is ok.

Any legit gold coin is a good thing pretty much!

Thanks for trying westernsky, I realize the pics makes it hard to make a call on it. The coin store owner did put it on a tester and it showed it as real. I have done business with Scotsmans before and I take them at their word.

Can you take it out of the holder and retake pictures, it would take most of the glare and distortions out of the way, more details would help in grading.
