Found this in my box of estate sale goodies, I would assume being graded is more valuable but how rare are these. Thanks for opinions and education *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

@coinundrum, that is a nice one. They are common enough that we have a 14 page thread with folks posting pics of their examples. Feel free to add yours: http://goccf.com/t/288744

1. I wonder how many dishonest people have tried to 'copy' improperly annealed error nickels with a carefully controlled heat treatment?
2. More importantly, how does one tell the difference between the fake 'improperly annealed' and the genuine?
3. Obviously it can be done. Here is proof evidence that ANACS can identify the genuine error. What is the telling evidence, such that the dishonest can be stopped.?

The photos aren't the best but I disagree with the grade that ANACS gave to this coin . IMHO that reverse is not an MS-64 .

I'd like to see the back of the slab. I want to see the ANACS serial number.

might be MS64 (the reverse looks more 62) but mushy late die state nickels like this have never annealed, um, appealed to me
