So, I'm a cashier and this penny came in a sealed bankroll Out of the safe. Naturally I began to look at the coins I got out of the role because I'm always searching for errors, old dated, and or variety types, when I saw "the penny" Against all the others I could tell it had been bent. That grabbed my attention so I pulled it from the role. I began to examine it with my jeweler's loupe *I take it everywhere. And notice that the damage look like it had been done before the coin was struck. Long story short, I need help to identify if this is an actual error or if it is man made or what? but as far as I can tell its a minting error.

P.S. This my 1st post. I've been collecting coins ever since I was 10 years old. My dad passed me down our collection and I have been adding to it ever since. I'm not too savvy with the whole understanding of everything there is the know in the coin community so I've joined this forum to help better understand every aspect there is. So work with me if I don't use proper terminology or know everything there is to know on the topic.

You have come to the right place to learn about coins. Don't be afraid to ask questions (that's how we all learn).
When coins are collected into rolls, sometimes the mechanisms can damage coins, and I think that is the issue with your penny. While it could have been done at the mint, it was done after the coin was minted, therefore it's considered post mint damage.

Your coin is damaged after the strike with the rims on other cents. When you see incuse marks on a coin, it is most often 99% of the time, post strike issues. (Even on new coins in a roll. When they are shipped, they are sent in large almost pallet sized bags.

The reason the 'U' on UNUM was not affected is that the EPU (E-Pluribus-UNUM) is incuse on this design. So the fields will be affected, and the bottom of the devices weren't. That is why that area is showing the ring transfer from another coin. Here is another damaged coin I found:

While this looks strange and not incuse, rotate the coin 90 degrees and then look at it again:

Light and shadows help you to see this better at the second angle.
