It is not a doubled die. It is DDD ( Die Deterioration Doubling) The die was wearing out and the devices moving towards the rim direction on both sets of dies. On the date you will see the same thing, but on the right sides of the date and on Liberty on the left sides of those devices. Just a die wear event for the die when your coin was struck.

I agree it's DDD, not a DDO.

Coop is usually right no this. But;Coop are you sure? I see clear separation of the top of the letters in "GOD" and the "T" in "Trust".

I didn't think that was possible with DDD. I don't see how a deteriorated die could leave two distinct letters. Can you show us how this is done?

Seriously, really curious about this from a production standpoint. I'm an AAE ( Engineer).

Yes. The fields are the only area that DDD affects. All the devices on your coin are showing the same thing:

The DDR on the shield cent show large on the USA on the strong ones:

Note that space between the devices and the rim. On your coin, all the devices are moving towards the rim:

Note there is not spread on these:

They are enlarged. On your coin the fields are affected, not the devices.
Note on the last image you can see this die starting to form DDD above the devices on the coin in that image.
