I got this 78 Nickel in change the other day and something is very strange about it closer inspection I don't have the best magnifier but it looks like it was stamped on an older planchet or older coin if you look at the face right behind the face there's another face. I believe I see a date also. Let me know what you guys think. Thank you Edited by Djrob 01/01/2020 1:10 pm

you can't expect anyone to give you an accurate answer to that picture. I'm sorry but you need to get a clear picture if you want an answer

Dirob, please understand no one meams to offend you, I have to agree that your picture is out of focus and not clear enough for anyone to be able to answer your question. Your picture doesn't have to be perfect, you decide which one of the below images is clear.

This coin is not brand new its from 78 and has been used a ton so not in the best condition. The image I'm refering to is extremely faded if anyone has some suggestions on how to take a clearer pic please ler me know and it will be done. Btw not offended but compared to half the pics I see on here I think its pretty clear what I described is what is being displayed is all.

With your outline I can kinda see what you are seeing. But that would mean you have a nickel struck on a 3 cent piece that was minted 100 years before. I don't think so

There's a fancy word for this, but basically it's like seeing animal shapes in the clouds. Imagination hard at work!

Could be an instance of Pareidolia. Sometimes, the more I at look at quite circulated coins, I can begin to see all kinds of 'meaningful' details (letters and numbers way out of position, doubling, etc.)...which turn out to be nothing significant. Just speaking for myself.

Quick question. The 3 cent coin you're referring to does it have any Indian pictures on it like old drawings like how Indians would draw a deer on stone something like that? Thank all of you for the responses. I am working on some better pics. There is a ton of things on this coin I'm trying to display but it is way to blurry. At the top of the head there is writing that I'm trying to display for you guys.

Perhaps the next time you're in Charlotte, stop by Hyatt Coin Shop and have them look at your nickel.
In the meantime, try posting photos of the entire coin--obverse and reverse. This can help establish the larger context for what you're seeing, which can help all of us. Thanks.
