Hi all. I'm fairly new to collecting and I recently found one of the strangest, but coolest coins I've ever seen. I'm posting this to share, but I'm also interested to get your opinions on how this happened. Could this be a mint error (LOL). Let me know what you think?

*notes - the coin isn't really discolored and sits flat on both sides. I can zoom in closer and upload more pics.

Thanks Wade for your input. Seems logical

Hey Greasy Finders. I think its a 1975. Here's a comparison pic with a normal 1975 D.

Damage from acid or harsh environmental conditions, but it certainly looks like acid damage.
No way is this left the mint in this condition, therefore cannot be considered an error.

to the CCF, and thanks for sharing!

Not an error, but the surface texture is pretty cool. Nice find!

Thanks Merclover, Spence, Michael C. Appreciate the input!

@Michael C - this dime side by side with another dime is very similar in size and thickness. When looking at the side, you can still see the clad and ridges like a normal dime. I'm at work right now, but I'll get pics of the side tonight.
