I collect baseball cards and I came across this for one of this years sets.

Historic United States Currency Relics (1:1,245).

Usually they stick with coins and I hope that that is the case here.

Of course this is the same company that destroys rare first editions of books by cutting them up and inserting them into cards for the sake of profit so I do not know why I expect anything different for this.

It says it will be released on May 27th so I guess we will know then if they have.

I was unable to find what exactly will be used/destroyed. There's a ton of low value old currency available so it may be premature to worry.

it says more than likely it will be coins used, not currency, but no further details were available at this point.

A big reason of why I stopped collecting baseball cards was sets like this. Don't get me wrong, I think some of these ridiculously rare inserts are very cool, but they make it nearly impossible to complete a set (depending on your definition of what a set is, of course). That and I also cringed seeing a Babe Ruth bat or Ted Williams jersey carved into swatches.
