Sorry guys, too much wear to be higher than an F12. Look at the clasp. Even allowing for the die rust deterioration in this variety, there is too much wear on the clasp.
Additional info: this is an O-110 variety which has a rarity rating of 2.

You're saying that reverse is F-12?

Although the reverse is VF, I have found that net grading does not actually work in the market. One way or another, this coin would only get F money which makes it F value. On these coins, I have found that collectors are more interested in the obverse condition than the reverse for collecting purposes.
Even so, F12+VF20 still net grades at F15.

Quote: too much wear to be higher than an F12. Look at the clasp on these early pieces you cant just look at one component to grade by you need to look at the entire coin. one of the first places a weakness in strike would occur is right there as its lower set in the die and takes more of a strike to fully develop it

I agree with you, Panzaldi. That is my starting point and I work my way out from there. There is way too much wear on the hair strands and cap to raise it over Fine, either. The reverse has a lot of flat spots on the eagle, with little to no detail in the talons. The wings show too much wear to make it to VF, also. Again, this is my opinion. You may see things differently, but I've spent a lot of time with this series and have been very accurate so far in what the TPG's have returned to me. I prefer the circulated grades in these coins, so have focused on those grades more than the uncirculated ones, even though the value is lower. It's an aesthetic preference.
