Loving all these coins - especially the Hard Times Cents - may collect those at one stage, the ass, the turtle and the man hiding in the chimney are priceless - who said no one was a wit almost 200 years ago.

There was a bit of US bashing by me at the start of this - but now as we head back to the early 1800s when America was small and still establishing, I have warmed towards the coins a lot.

Finally after years of waffle a coin!

Here is my first and best of 3 William IV halfcrowns, 1836 was a common year with almost 2 million made. This example is VG to gVG (Maybe F11 US Grading).

Although British, many of these coins were used in early New Zealand and we abound with heavily worn late Georgian (1797 Cartwheels to this era) as coins were scarce before responsible government in the mid 1840s).

I may upgrade at a later stage, but coins like this, I admire their authenticity (Although I suspect all my Georgian halfcrowns have been cleaned).

I've got one of those as well, but a bit more worn.

I'll do the rest of my 1836 coins tomorrow, this is a start.

1836 - Britain - Halfcrown (William IV)

Love the Hard Times tokens, and that's a great halfpenny, paralyse!

Nice to see a halfcrown again, Princetane!

Paralyse, I would actually say your coin is about the same as mine, its obverse is a bit nicer, you have more detail in the middle.

NumisRob - Love your coins and especially the groat - very nice.

Keith12 - your Capped Bust half is gorgeous! Love the lustre!
