I have this 1955 S Lincoln Cent with an issue with the 9 in the date. What would this be called?
It looks like a glob of metal under high magnification.

@hnc, yes a die chip--pretty common on cents in the 1950s, but this is a great example.

Yes, very nice example of a die chip. Wonder if there's a subtle die crack on Lincoln's head/hair. Also, check the reverse, you may find a die crack in/around the wheat stalks.

These are commonly found on the 1950s Lincolns.
