Hey folks.

Thought I'd share this one with you as I picked it up cheap today.

Okay there are the pics. Close up of the date not so hot but here's what I see in hand (and my vision is not that good).
Naked eye I can see the 3 and most of the 9. Under magnification the 1 is visible albeit real mushy and the 2 is a blob.

Now look at the rest of the coin and it's solid. Full rims and lettering.

Compare it to the guidelines in the ANA book and it's borderline VG. HOWEVER, the date is nowhere near guidelines.

So how does one grade this coin? SLQs are very tricky. I see them in junk silver fairly often with VG-F detail and NO date. Saw a few today with strong mintmarks and NO date.

From 1925 on I won't say they are "easy" as weak strikes abound but a heck of lot easier then pre-1925.

Personally, I'll pick up coins like this all day if the price is right. I honestly don't see them all that often. Last one was a bit stronger and paid $5. Dropped $4 on this one.

Opinions and comments are now being accepted.

I'd call it a VG. Nice coin for $4.

I'd buy that coin all day long for $4-5. Good pickup.

I'll go VG-10 on this one.

The rim is complete and the shield has most of its outline. Some of the details border on Fine.

Early SLQs have these date issues and this coin has plenty of date for a pre-1925 VG.
