This 1909 VDB Lincoln Penny mint Mark has some kind of damage wondering if this was through the mint process or post mint damage. I am thinking it has to do with the state of the die at the time, just not sure. Any thoughts and opinions welcome. For those of you thinking it may be counterfeit the center portion of the B is slanted, it's very hard to see. I'll try to get more photos with the scope. Thank you.

Is this a 1909-S-VDB? Are you talking about a mint mark or the designer initials?

I don't see anything out of the ordinary, just a lot of circulations marks on it.

I'm going to guess you're asking about the VDB?

The VDB is very shallow on the die, it gets worn and easily fills with debris causing weakness.....it's completely normal.
