Suspicious shadows in the "LIBERTY" and in the date! Is it possible it's a DDO or something else?

Looks like the outer devices were flattened a bit. Perhaps during circulation or running though counting machines or a slight amount of grease on the outer devices? If seen on the reverse it might be a Grease Fill issue.

My non-expert opinion is Machine Doubling. Though interestingly it is on the right of the date and the left of Liberty. Looks like a grease strike on the "Li" of Liberty. The "T" almost looks tripled. If it was just the date, I'd say MD for sure, but the Liberty is weird. Just thinking out loud...needs an expert opinion! Cheers!

Thank you for the expert explanations, looks like DDO is off the table. Regarding the position, the doubling shows this way even when I change the direction of the light.

It's a really cool coin! Even if no extra numismatic value, I'd be thrilled to find one like it.
