Charles III, actually, and 2 reales: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces23955.html

(Which is to say, this Charles III - the losing pretender of the War of Spanish Succession. Neat coin!)

[EDIT: supposed to be 5.7 g though... even with the wear and the hole, can't see it losing that much. Weird.]

Minted during the War of the Spanish succession, for Archduke Charles of Austria, pretender for the Spanish throne as Charles III. He lost in favor of Philip of Bourbon, who became Philip V.

Seems a bit light though.

About the weight: (this opinion is just a guess at an explanation)
Silver look to be OK.
If there is a war (for the Spanish Succession), soldiers will have to be paid. Somewhat of a problem if you don't have much silver on hand from which coins have to be made. A ripe situation for inflation, as often happens during a time of war.

Two ways to deal with this situation. You either
1. debase the coinage or
2. decrease the weight for the denomination of each coin.

Looks like the second alternative may have been the case for this coin. It is probably a bit thinner, as well.

While there are LOTS of contemporary counterfeits of this Charles III pretender "pistareen" 2 Reales type... the REGAL pieces vary WILDLY in weight - as do the 1710s-20s Philip V "official" pistareens.

Given the usual diameter of these, with that much wear - plus the hole - I'd imagine this was in the neighborhood of 4.4-4.7g as struck.

Looking at the detailing, tone, overall fabric... I'd say this is a genuine issue, not a contemp. ctfeit.

From the above discussion, it seems that war is behind an explanation for a large variation in coin weights.

Hello

From Barcelona mint, I also looks genuine to me. There is a lot of underweight coins from "The Pretender"

You can even see the "end of the rail" cut on observe 9 o'clock, typical from roller dies.

Same Charles as Karl VI, Emperor of Holy Roman Empire, Archduke of Austria, king of Hungary (etc...)

Regards!
