Could this be an RPM? The Stage A 1952-D RPM-010 on VarietyVista looks close except the mintmark on this one has been flattened surely post-mint. Sure looks like an underlying serif.

Thanks! And we really appreciate all the supportive help from this community! Can't thank you all enough!

Looks pretty close to me @zaphod, but I'm interested to hear others' thoughts too. It is odd that the varietyvista example doesn't have much evidence of the underlying mintmark at the top like your seems to:

I agree, and could not find anything that matched perfectly online which kinda makes me think it may not be anything. Maybe some tricky MD? I've been fooled before :)

Thanks!

I think you may have it right. You are comparing the MM from stage A but if you check the MM for stage B you can see a hint of the top serif.

Often RPMs change over the stages then you have to factor in circulation wear.

There also appears to be a die scratch behind the collar, just as show on the Stage B photos. The "T" doesn't appear to have any die chips at the location shown, but it's a very worn coin. Good feedback, thank you!

The location looks correct:

The die chips appear with time. It could have been a coin struck between the Stage 'A and B'?

Thrilled that this doesn't come back as MD! :) Seems like most of what seems like something special is either MD or PMD. Thank you all for your input!
