Rather than posting this long comment I posted already on each coin, please read my #11 submission so you understand what and why I'm posting my coins.

I think this is a rather nice coin, well struck, full breast feathers. It's hard to tell from the pictures but it has an overall natural light golden tone. Don't believe it's ever been cleaned and I like my grade ..... what do you think?

Tough call. I'll say AU-58 with some evidence of cleaning (obverse toning pattern), but low confidence factor here.

Take a look at these additional close ups. The toning shows up better close up and stops looking like cleaning. What do you think now?

The 1896 is a high mintage year on the rebound from the depression of 1893-1895, and is generally well struck.

There is a touch of obverse wear on the cap, hair above the ear, large bear claw, and central cheek and reverse wear on the eagle's right wing tip (our visual left), claws, and ribbon. The halo effect around the stars and devices and the toning inside the protected detail areas (eye, ear, enclosed letters, etc.) suggests an older cleaning.

A high end AU-58, very close to MS. The surfaces and toning look original to me.
