Yesterday Oriole asked if I should mention what grade I believe they are today, not just the grade I put on the holder when I bought it. This was bought and and I graded it around 3 1/2 to 4 years ago. I think I still stand by that grade today. It seems to have a weak strike on the eagles breast but not wear. Something must have lain on the reverse of the coin for some time for that toning or color transfer to have occurred on the eagles wing. Perhaps just another Morgan for I see the shadow of a star in the toning.

What do you think of the coin?

the 96(P) are known for sharp and bold strikes. this one is AVG- for strike. looks like about half the luster is missing and surface preservation as well as eye appeal are less than AVG.

Greasy Fingers ........ stay tuned, there will be more dogs still to come. But yes, overall I was getting better by #35, but my reasons for collecting by the time I got to #35 became more focused, and that focus was trying to pay the least amount for any given silver dollar, and not necessarily the best coin.

I was confused at first and thought you had graded it a 35. I just couldn't understand it - was everything I had learned about grading on this site for naught? Where did it show signs of circulation? I was relieved when I looked again at the lower right and saw the ms 62. The universe makes sense again :)
