Hi all!

Could this be a S/SW RPM-012? Seems similar to Variety Vista images, but looks like it has been mushed post-mint and is distorted. I can imagine some worn die gouges on the hair, but they certainly aren't obvious.

Thanks!

Show a West on the RPM. I'm not seeing that on your coin. If it were there, it long gone now. But what I do see on your coin is called damage from a damaged mintmark punch. It leaves areas raised on the field areas inside the mintmark fields. Often you can see it on several even RPMs, but not on this year. The damaged punch issue is not considered a RPM, but mintmark punch damage. Look at the description of the RPM to see what areas are considered as this mintmark. The punch damage is usually in a different direction. (same for doubled dies as well. All the images on the site are not part of a doubled die, but the description box will tell you which ones are affected. The others are often used for markers or to compare with your coin perhaps an undesignated marker)

Great, that is terrific information! Thanks for taking the time for that explanation. I understand and see the difference, and have added it to my knowledge base :) I still have quite a bit of difficulty, especially on older coins, distinguishing legit errors from damage or die issues. Slowly the field is narrowing.

Thanks!
