Variety Vista has a 1989-D DDO 001 Medium extra thickness on Date same as this one, Mint mark looks close, But this coin has none of the markers its a very clean coin. I am thinking early strike. What do ya think ? Thanks http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20...9DDDO001.htm

The date looks good as a DDO. The mint mark looks to be farther to the left Than the one on Variety Vista.
Nice find Dave.

I'm no expert here... What I see is a Die shift on the mint mark. I do see what "may" be doubling on the 8. Better to leave this to the experts.

Yours looks to be a later die state. Heavy die flow and some Die Deterioration Doubling as point out before.

sirguardian: This coin has both a doubled die and the "die shift" Die Deterioration Doubling you pointed out. The doubled die is the extra thickness to the date, especially on the tails of the 9s.
