I've been searching around the internet for two hours to no avail on what the heck these coins are. Some insight be appreciated thanks my dudes. I have no idea whether or not these boys are fake but I'm not the one who paid $20 for them so I won't lose any sleep over em if they are indeed fakes.

.... to the Community!

I'd bet they are modern replicas of recent Chinese origin.

They are more strictly fantasies. No genuine coins were made with that imagery. They are modern medals made to vaguely resemble coins.

Just a thought .....

I know it is practice in Buddism to give or burn "money" as part of their religious practices. I have heard that they purchase "temple money" in order to do this. Is it possible that these coins would fall into that "temple money" category.

No. "Temple Money" coins are always in the form of traditional "cash" coins, with the square holes in them.

These are a set of "fantasy dollar" medals, depicting figures from Chinese history and/or mythology. In the tourist traps in mainland China, they are sometimes sold in cardboard folders with the story of the various figures given, sometimes they are sold "loose" like this; they can also be found in overseas marketplaces as the things are exported by the shipping-container-load. Typically sold for about $2 each.
