I'm new to collecting RPM saving a few I find in pocket change I recently stumbled across this 1983 D dime that caught my eye when I researched this date there are a few RPM listed does anyone have any pointers as to what to look for on rpms this is the one I have in question thanks in advance for any responses or opinions.!! 1983 D Dime
I completely agree also put what made me have second thoughts was how close the images from vv match is there any sure fire way to determining rpms like die marked on DDO &dde like I said new to rpms any help would be appreciated I dont really care if it's an rpm or not. I'm trying to learn them. Will they resemble hub machine or do rpms exhibit some different type.the 3 on the date looks the the vv pic I highlighted the mint mark and it's close maybe not a rpm.
With both areas affected, (date and mintmark) it is Machine Doubling. Not a RPM. A RPM would be raised, not flattened. (In most cases, as the punch would make an incuse mark in the die leaving a raised area on the coins. But some RPM were not the last punch and can be weaker. But where the date and mintmarks are affected the same it is Machine Doubling.
