Hello everyone. I found this forum last night and read through alot of it. Seems like a lot of good folks on here, so I joined today.
As far as me and coin collecting, I just started my 9 yr. old son collecting this past March. I/we had never collected before. Now guess what? That's right. I am a coin collector.
My income has been modest so I am not into high dollar coins exactly, but I was able to get a few gold coins recently.
Mostly we have the statehoods, the presidentials and assorted Kennedy's, Ikes etc. Also a few Silver Eagles, proof sets and assorted old silver. The local coin shop dealer "sold" us two partially filled books of LMC's. (1909-1940 & 1941-?) $4 for both. The first book is only missing 7 to complete the year set for the book, tho not all mints are represented. And no VDB. The second book is complete to 1960 mius the '49, '54 and '55 "S' mints. Needless to say, we have a great local dealer.
I am looking forward to being active on the forum with you all. Thanks for reading.

Welcome and feel lucky to have a great dealer who treats beginners with respect! From postings, it seems to be somewhat rare.

Thank you, everybody.

The local dealer is a great guy. He often just trades me face for many coins. Last week I got a complete Ike year set for face. He has sold me several coins that are way below book. Seems he has made his money and mostly wants to help others without losing too much himself if you know what I mean. Good fellow to deal with.

Thanks again to everybody. Enjoying it here already!

Welcome, always nice to see another Texan on the board. My 8 year old son started collecting recently as well. I really enjoy the time we spend together looking through loose change.

The people here are very friendly and helpful.

I appreciate the big welcome from everyone.
JonS.7070, I think I get the treatment because me and my son are new to the hobby. I've seen the man deal much more seriously with some of his other clientele. But He is very fair.
Glad to be here!
