I got this penny in the grocery store yesterday and I wonder if someone could find something more interesting on it then just PMD, SPD, DDD, MAD and a very uneven, bumpy surface, mostly on the letters of "TED STATES OF A". I don't know if they are die chips or bubbles or result of tear and wear, but they are something! I know it's not a serious find but I would appreciate any input. Thank you!
Thank you, John1, I agree, it just grabbed my attention how many different imperfections this penny has! So, in my coin collecting terminology, now this coin officially is a MOF!
Kind of the worst of everything. Obverse is showing Ridge Ring. Over polishing that reduced the size of the devices. Reverse is showing Machine Doubling and DDD (Die-Deterioration-Doubling) Split plating. You might want to save this one as an educational piece. It has the worst of everything, all on one coin. A new one might enjoy to see what not to collect. I like the way the MD is opposite the DDD on the USA. It shows how bad things can get.
