I have found some coins with small cracks, but nothing like this. Any info on it is appreciated. Thanks.

Cool find. We see a good number of 1950s wheat cents with similar die cracks about the head--rather infrequent with 1980s cents

Die cracks on the bust and the Memorial designs, all way remind me of a 'peanuts' cartoon I remembered years ago. I just found it. it was from April 22, 1956.

Keep in mind that the dies move the most material to form the bust and the larger designs. Both sides are formed at the same time. So when the dies get thinned from polishings, and weaken with age, they break down. So they end up like the cracker trying with each strike. Thus the die cracks at the top of the head, the forehead, and the corners of the memorial. So each time it makes a coin, it is tested for strength until the die gives up. Seeing these die cracks reminds me of the cartoon I saw many years ago. I've always looked for it, but found it tonight. Just wanted to share it with my coin brothers and sisters.
