1969 S Lincoln Penny - Error Type? - Coin Community Forum

Analytic New Member Canada 6 Posts	Posted 02/21/2020 8:14 pm Hi Everyone, I was looking through some 1969 Lincoln pennies and came across a 1969 S penny with what appears to be some type of strike or planchet error? There are a couple of "streaks" across the face and a chip on the edge. I'm assuming these occurred at the mint? Has anybody seen anything like this before or can tell me if this is in fact a mint error? Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

Second, I agree with the wolf that those "streaks" are damaged sustained after this coin left the mint. You can see the transfer of pressure onto the reverse of the coin where something was pressing on the front. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/21/2020 8:37 pm How can we tell it is damage? 1. Note the metal extends over the edge of the coin. 2. Note the obverse is showing an indent from the damaged the coin from a hammer blow. 3. Damage to the bust area. So after they had their jollies with this coin, what do they do with it? Spend it!
