Method of picture taking is simple, but highly effective in this case.  Most often, a second strike over the first is in perfect registration over the first, and there is no sign of doubling. If this is the case, it would not even be perceived to be an error. Modern proof collector coins are often deliberately double struck, to bring up all of the design detail.

You do not have a doubled die coin . but I must say it has been viciously cleaned and or dragged across a sidewalk on both sides . To add to it's misery your coin is moderately worn .

Thanks, it was sold as scrap silver. I was just taking a chance, worst case is I have a nice piece of metal. Appreciate teaching me what I need to be looking for

Well there are several things to look for on different years, doubled dies, RPM, OMM (over mintmarks) Type 2 reverse on business strikes, Bugs bunny clashes just to name a few. If you would like images of these items I could include them.
